Overview of Solaris Print ManagerSolaris Print Manager is a JavaTM technology-based GUI that enables you to manage local and remote printing configuration. This tool can be used in the files, LDAP, NIS, and NIS+ naming service environments. To use this tool, you must:
Solaris Print Manager centralizes printer information when the information is used in conjunction with a naming service. Using a naming service for storing printer configuration information is the preferred method, because a naming service makes printer information available to all systems on the network. This method provides easier printer administration. Solaris Print Manager recognizes existing printer information on print servers, print clients, and in the naming service databases. No conversion tasks are required to use Solaris Print Manager as long as the print clients are running at least the Solaris 2.6 release. The Solaris Print Manager package is SUNWppm. |
