PrefaceSystem Administration Guide: Advanced Administration is part of a set that covers a significant part of the SolarisTM system administration information. This guide includes information for both SPARC® and x86 based systems. This book assumes that you have installed the SunOSTM Solaris Operating System. It also assumes that you have set up any networking software that you plan to use. The SunOS Solaris Operating System is part of the Solaris product family, which also includes many features, including the GNOME Desktop Environment. The SunOS Solaris Operating System is compliant with AT&T's System V, Release 4 operating system. For the Solaris release, new features that are interesting to system administrators are covered in sections called What's New in ... ? in the appropriate chapters. Note - This Solaris release supports systems that use the SPARC and x86 families of processor architectures: UltraSPARC® , SPARC64, AMD64, Pentium, and Xeon EM64T. The supported systems appear in the Solaris 10 Hardware Compatibility List at http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl. This document cites any implementation differences between the platform types. In this document these x86 related terms mean the following:
For supported systems, see the Solaris 10 Hardware Compatibility List. |
